More Artistic Interpretations Of God’s Plan

In the previous article we saw a sculptural interpretation of God’s Plan based on the redemption He can deliver following a significant negative connection or event in someone’s life.  We applied that interpretation for the tragic story of Amber Hagerman followed by the hopeful, positive results that followed according to God’s Plan.

Now let’s take a look at a couple more artistic applications for how God might see our lives and how they fit His plan.

“Thank You, Lord”

The first artistic application represents finding one’s sole mate following an extended period of wandering, wavering and searching.  As the sole mate joins with the wanderer, they become one rising to new heights.

The key for both wanderer and soul mate is twofold:

  1. Faith is required – faith that God sees both people, cares about them and matches wanderer and soul mate according to His Plan for both people
  2. Patience is required – because God answers prayers according to His plan which may differ from the preferences of the individuals.
    • Praying for patience and strength may provided added peace

“Life With Children”

The next application reflects the tremendous blessing that children provide in one’s life matched with the topsy-turvy impacts that create.  Ultimately they leave home to establish their own lives; sometimes things go smoothly while other times, less so.

Other Artists’ Perspectives

Marianna Szekely created this piece, called “Unfolding”, as a different perspective on God’s Plan.  She describes it this way:

God has a plan for us even if we don’t see it. But we can see it by imagining it. The work represents the belief that we are not just floating but directed from one ‘ hand to another ‘. Both hands are God’s.

Artist Darrell Black created this piece, called “The Rapture”.  He describes it this way:

‘The Rapture” is a depiction of humanity reaching for God’s grace with two angels standing as deliverers and protectors of the truth. The images are shrouded in violet representating the sovereignty of Christ on earth, the repentance of sin and iniquity, and the opportunity for all children of God to be saved.

Artist Diane Markey created “Golden Beach”.  She describes it this way:

“Everything I do and say in my life is for the Glory of God and this includes my paintings.  I truly believe God has a purpose for me and that this purpose for now is to use the gift that He has given me to brighten people’s lives with my paintings and to show my gratitude for living in such a free and beautiful country, Australia.  When I am painting each piece of art, I use my skills to thank God for His gift and for the freedom given by this amazing nation to use them.  The joy gained from painting is beyond words for me and I only hope this joy shines through for the pleasure of others and to the Glory and Honor of God.  Without God in my life it would be dark and without meaning. Life is bright and I use this brightness to shine His light onto others in my interactions with people I meet and now in the colors that play out on canvas in my paintings.”

Artist Priyanka Dhingra  created “Path of God”.  She describes it this way:

“Prayer holds the power to heal and grants hope when no one can. While exploring Florence I came across an ornate window in an old church. The narrow but sharp sunlit rays passed through many walls, floors and objects to light up the dark basement below. To me it felt synonymous with the power of prayer that can create miracles during dark and trying times. To find bright light filtering through obstacles and illuminating the underground basement reminds me of the power of prayers.”

Here’s another from Priyanka Dhingra called “Plan of God”.  She describes it this way:

“Circumstances and situations of life are all part of the almighty’s plans we are unaware of.  The potter molds the soft clay into vessel of hope – to let go and surrender to his plan.”

And another from Priyanka Dhingra called “Path to God”.  She describes it this way:

“On my visit to the Vatican and seeing the Sistine Chapel I saw timeless works of art… all in praise of God’s glory. Amongst them was this fine and sensitive wood carving of Jesus guiding a flock of sheep. The sheep metaphorically seemed like souls who rest their hopes in the almighty’s boat as he steers them steadily.”

Closing Remarks

The intent of the C. S. Lewis-inspired concepts of God’s Plan presented here are to provide comfort and reassurance for your faith in God.  Often times we need strength and patience in the midst of trials or when prayer go unanswered.  It is during these times that a reminder of faith might be helpful – reminders that God sees each of us, God cares for us and God will answer our prayers according to His plan for us.
